LUCETTE ALDOUS <IN THE WINGS> by Jessica L. Wilkinson

You might remember me
as a small, quick bird—fairy,
Kitri, little doll—across
the stage in a chaîné flash
to fishtail into his arms,
and the scene is complete!

Off stage, the nerves are
untamed wires that feed
on oxygen. In all these
years, my one big lesson:
breathe in, breathe out,
remember the human body.
