Poetry at Sangam showcases poetry in English and translations as well as essays on poetics and news of new releases.
Meena Alexander’s seventh book of poems is Birthplace with Buried Stones (TriQuarterly Books/ Northwestern University Press 2013). She is the editor of Indian Love Poems (Everyman’s Library). Her poems have been widely translated, anthologized and set to music. “Impossible Grace” was the lyric base of the First Al Quds Music Award and Jan Sandstrom created music for the poem “Acqua Alta” as part of the Serikon Music Group’s climate change project in Sweden. She received the PEN Open Book Award (for Illiterate Heart) and the Glenna Luschei Prize for poems published in Prairie Schooner. She has been a Guggenheim Fellow in Poetry and served as an Elector, American Poets Corner, Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
