7TH JANUARY by Naveen Kishore

The smiling moon.
Peeping. From behind the clouds.

The tree combing it’s branches.
With light gifted from the stars.

The river escaping its banks.
A vast mirror flooding the earth.

The boat breaking its moorings.
Sailing upon the clouds.

The stars clinging to the fisherman’s net.
Setting free the little fish.

The little fish looked at herself in the mirror.
And saw the moon smiling back.
