Poetry at Sangam showcases poetry in English and translations as well as essays on poetics and news of new releases.
Andrew Shields, one of the English Seminar’s Lektoren, arrived in Basel in October 1995 after teaching in Germany and completing a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his language-teaching activities, he is a poet and translator, as well as a songwriter and guitarist. His poems, prose, and translations have appeared in journals and books on both sides of the Atlantic.
