Aamer Hussein was born in Karachi in 1955. He moved to London in 1970 after two years at school in Ooty. He is a graduate of SOAS. The author of seven works of fiction, including the collections The Blue Direction and Insomnia and the novel The Cloud Messenger, Hussein has also published stories and memoirs in Urdu, translations of which are included in his new volume of short fiction, The Swan’s Wife (2014). He lives in London and travels frequently to Pakistan.
