OFELIA ZEPEDA

Dr. Ofelia Zepeda is a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, a Native American Nation in southern Arizona and northern Sonora, Mexico. She is presently Regents’ Professor of Linguistics at the University of Arizona where she teaches in the fields of Native American linguistics, language documentation and revitalization. She is the recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship for her work in American Indian language education, maintenance and recovery. Ofelia has three books of poetry, Ocean Power: Poems from the Desert, Jewed I-hoi/Earth Movements and Where Clouds are Formed. Ofelia Zepeda writes in her first language, Tohono O’odham, and English. Dr. Zepeda is the series editor of Sun Tracks, a series publishing Native American authors through the University of Arizona Press.
