POETS WITH FIERCE VOICES by Dipika Mukherjee

Write your words! Then, loudly breathe them out,
harness your voice, let them journey on,
sound them like dandelion bells, like all
nuisance weeds, somersaulting breeze, flowering
minds, restless in the wind; life’s puffed-up
wholeness and underside merrily
changeable. Don’t clutch them, palm-jailed, as
offerings only for the worthy,
until all mangled and diminished
crushed in closed pages they pine
like false promises of unrequited love.
