VAHNI CAPILDEO

Vahni Capildeo has worked in academia, as a lexicographer (Oxford English Dictionary), and in culture for development (Commonwealth Writers). Her five books and two pamphlets, from No Traveller Returns (Salt, 2003) to Measures of Expatriation (Carcanet, 2016) (a T.S. Eliot Prize 2016 nomination), explore multiple personæ and multilingualism. Capildeo writes regularly for Carcanet’s magazine, PN Review. She served as a judge for the Forward Prizes (2014), and was the Judith E. Wilson Poetry Fellow at the University of Cambridge (2014-15). While travelling for the Harper-Wood Studentship (St. John’s College, Cambridge, 2015-16), she is actively seeking collaborations in immersive theatre.
