Autopoiesis by Arun Sagar

Impossible to change
one’s obsessions, and
so I have decided to keep
only the good
memories of you –
furtive hands clasped
under the table,
can we kiss
again – as if
winnowing the past
– quick
noodles on paper
plates, secret
hours in a flat
in town – was enough
to make it new.
I don’t want to see
just moments, I
want to see the things
auto rides, blue
tube-light on a hidden
stair, your trousers
lowering. Such
desperation to infuse
these with meaning, but
it is what
it is.
All-night
phone calls – of what did
we speak? – all-eve-
ning kisses.
I want to smash through
the barriers of love.
