Poetry at Sangam

Sketch by Stephen Collis

I could say that
this is a moment
slip through trap
door or wander
back out of
internet signal to
tent along hills
filled with migrants
or maybe squat
with Diggers upon
St. George’s Hill
now a private
golf & country club
though there’s the
reason now to
look back upon
some several thens
/ carmen perpetuum /

war that put
a palace up or
kiosk or knocked
a class down
pretty perpetuity
we imagine though
we are imaginary
and so good at
getting lost and
being temporary

I don’t know
noose round so
many people’s necks
pirates in banks
birds dropping out
of blistering sky
seems like a
pretty good time
for political poems
