Mukta Sambrani was born and raised in India where she taught English and worked as a freelance journalist. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. Her two books of poetry are: The Woman in this room isn’t lonely (Writer’s Workshop, 1997) and Broomrider’s book of the dead (Poetrywala, 2015). Mukta’s work has appeared in anthologies such as Bloodaxe book of contemporary Indian poets, 60 Indian poets, We Speak in Changing Languages, The Dance of the Peacock, Suvarnarekha and Modern English Poetry by Younger Indians. Mukta works as a school administrator, and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area in California.
