MUZAFFAR A. GHAFFAAR

Muzaffar A. Ghaffaar (born in 1940 to Punjabi parents, in Nagpur, British India) is a Pakistani poet, literary translator and cultural revivalist. He has six books of verse to his credit: Another Voice (which is regarded as the first English poetry book in Pakistani to go into a second printing), Maryam & Others, Inscape, Yesterdays, Another Time Another Place and Moondark. His work as a literary translator, under the umbrella name Masterworks of Punjabi Sufi Poetry, has 29+ volumes, including the works by Baba Fareed Ganjshakar, Baba Nanak, Shah Hussain, Sultan Bahu, Bulleh Shah, Sachal Sarmast, Pooran Bhagat and Khwaja Ghulam Fareed. The series has moved to qisse with a four-volume Heer Damodarand a six-volume Heer Waris Shah. The series continues with Mirza Sahiban by Haafiz Berkhurdar, Sohni Mahniewal by Mian Mohammad Bakhsh – 2 volumes, Saif ul Malook, also by Mian Mohammad Bakhsh, Sassi by another Haafiz Berkhurdar, which are all under publication. Along with his poetry books, another experiment, ten images ten poems – images and poems both by the poet – a series, is continuing. Most of his books have been published by Ferozsons Publishers, which was established in 1894, and can be bought online. 

Muzaffar A. Ghaffaar lives in Lahore and is the president of Lahore Arts Forum (LEAF), one of the most active independent cultural organizations in Pakistan, in its 24th year, with over 2000 cultural events to its credit.
