Crying together
is based on one simple notion of compassion
and crying alone coerces
to laugh

The alternative to crying
is laughing alone

The one whose son died young
began laughing alone while crying
reminiscing—
how in the final round of a race
the poor boy had succumbed to walking

Before and after crying
one laughs alone like this.
