Lion by Sudhir Ranjan Singh

The lion has grown non-violent
He does not murder men
Only claws apart the flesh
Is a lion even a lion
If he doesn’t do this bit

The lion is philanthropic
He has built the hospitals
It isn’t right that
Men’s wounds should rot
After all, the lion wants to stay healthy too

The lion is a saint
He has opened the schools
If men’s children don’t attend
How will they deem the lion as the Lion

The lion possesses
The history of all lions
He tells
Which lion was the most barbaric
If he doesn’t
How would the people know that
This is the good lion

The lion is clever
When men laugh he cries
When men cry he roars
When men roar he smiles\

The lion fears
Not men
But the habit of men
He is worried
That men are cutting down the jungles

The lion needs jungles
Water for the jungles
and a well for the water

One day, certainly, the lion will peek into the well.
