Swallows I
They extend their wings to reach the peaks
They fly, stroking the skin of Tlanakastlan 1
They cry with other swallows and the echo of their song
multiplies upon the lips of the Tepila River
Behind them
the wind comes to dry the earth
And with gusts through the cornfields
they say farewell to Spring
Only a clear dew remains
fading at the tips of the ocotes 2
