This is a song of praise of Lord Siva and speaks of His deeds of glory on earth as different acts that He performed to aid or save his devotees. The songs encapsulate different stories, miracles, legends and myth. Manikkavacagar draws from the rich retelling of the Lord’s benevolence as portrayed in Thiruvilayadal, or the Play of the Supreme. In lines of five each, the poet expands and encapsulates one story before moving on to the next.
