I AM A POET. by Deepak Sharma Deep, translated by Abdur Rehman Khan

I am a poet.

I’m he who
writes poems
does drama
beats drums

he who writes mostly about women
and molests them the most too
why?
because he’s double-faced
he’s best at having double standards

he cries at hunger
screams, yells, frustrates
brings revolution with the pen
but while walking on pavement
cusses at the hungry
laughs and feels pride inside

he reminds people to wake wake wake
tells them if they don’t wake up they’ll die
wake, move forward, keep moving
and is himself sleeping for centuries
to kill time he kills flies
he has killed so many that
according to section 302
daily he receives a death sentence
to be hung by the noose until dead
and he is hanged on a daily basis

the poet is dead the poem is dead
all the sensations died
died everything which was single
and living are the people who are double faced
double faced writers are living
double faced poets are living
double standards are blooming
inhumanity is dancing with pride

I’m he. I’m a poet.
