THE SKY by Iryna Vikyrchak

Wherever you go,
the sky will be with you.
Wherever you hide,
it will be your last hideaway.
Whatever happens,
the sky will be with you.
You can leave the shore and
take the sea road.
You can leave the sea and
fly high in the air –
the sky will be with you.
So out of all maps
study the map of the sky,
its breathing patterns,
the movements of its diaphragm –
burning and round.

Hold the sky by its hand.
You are on its leash
made of invisible impulses.
It’s your last ceiling with
eternal lightbulbs in it.
Hold the sky by its hand
and it will never leave you.
It dictates time
splits it into day and night.
They say there is paradise up in the sky
but it’s not the point.
