THE UNIVERSE, A WISH by Savita Singh

Translated by Medha Singh

I would consider it        having survived
If I still          breathe in this state

Though youthful voices          fall on my ears
Wishes                     of children speaking to me         their adamance

nourishing me with life

Whatever their wishes be              I submit to them obligingly

It is this universe                  resting in the same predicament
                 borne of        dressed in       ambition

If I sleep tonight
Surely, I’d wake to see                   first light

I shall fill myself                          with myself
Step outside
                                                                                 thank the sun

I would consider it                 having survived
if I still         & breathe in this state.

& survive                for my children            for this universe
