CHATURTHI MOON by Usha Upadhayay

Translated by Rupalee Burke

Beating wings
to cross the seven seas,
O bewildered wind,
just pause,
stop for a while
the flapping of young enormous wings,
then listen
to the quiver
of the sprout
piercing the earth
To raise its head.
